Trusted locally

What Perth locals say

What Perth locals have said after we've been out — from a spring that went bang at eleven at night to a motor that turned out never to have been the problem.

Motor was humming and doing nothing. First thing he did was disconnect it and lift the door by hand — dead weight, so it was never the motor at all. Fixed the spring, left the motor alone, and told me not to replace something that wasn't broken.
Julia C. Nedlands
Roller door had got so heavy my wife couldn't lift it. He re-tensioned the barrel, cleared the guides and replaced the bottom seal, and it lifts one-handed again. Explained why it happened rather than just fixing it and leaving.
Trevor B. Scarborough
Heard the bang at about eleven at night and thought someone was breaking in. Rang first thing, was told very clearly not to touch the door, and they were there before lunch. Both springs replaced, door balanced, done properly.
Peter H. Mount Pleasant

Where we work

Garage door service across the Perth metro area

A door fails differently depending on where it lives — salt eats the curtains on the coast, blown sand grinds in the guides, the hills lose power and fight a gradient, and the heritage suburbs constrain what can replace them. Pick your suburb for the local detail.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Why does my garage door reverse before it closes?

Nine times out of ten it isn't the motor. The usual causes are misaligned or dirty safety sensors, a travel limit set incorrectly, or a track binding that spikes the force the motor reads as an obstruction. All three are quick to diagnose on-site and are often adjusted rather than replaced — which is a very different conversation to the new motor most people expect to be sold.

My garage door motor hums but the door won't move — is the motor dead?

Almost certainly not. That symptom nearly always means a broken spring, so the motor is being asked to lift the door's entire weight — something it was never designed to do. Pull the manual release and try lifting the door by hand: if it's a dead weight, it's a spring. Don't keep pressing the button in the meantime, or you'll burn the motor out on top of the original fault.

Can I replace a broken garage door spring myself?

Please don't. A torsion spring stores enough energy to counterbalance an entire garage door, and releasing it without proper winding bars is how people break bones and lose fingers. This isn't about being careful — it's about having the right tools and knowing the sequence. Leave the door exactly as it is and call a technician.

How quickly can you reach me in Perth?

We run technicians across the whole metro, so most emergency callouts are reached in around 60 to 90 minutes. When you call we tell you which technician is closest and give a realistic arrival window — not a vague 'sometime today'.

Are you really available 24 hours, including weekends and public holidays?

Yes, and a real person answers — not a message service that rings you back on Monday. A garage door stuck open is a security problem you can't walk away from, and a door stuck shut can be holding your car hostage. Neither waits for business hours, and neither do we.

What does a garage door repair cost?

You get a clear, free quote before any work starts. We don't publish prices, because the honest number depends on your specific door and what's actually failed — a figure on a website that changes the moment we see the door isn't a price, it's bait.

What areas of Perth do you cover?

118 suburbs across the Perth metro area, residential and commercial — the western suburbs from Dalkeith to Cottesloe, Floreat and City Beach, the inner north around Mount Lawley and Menora, the riverside south through Applecross and Mount Pleasant, the coastal belt from Scarborough to Burns Beach, Fremantle and the port, the southern river suburbs, up into the Perth Hills, and out through the northern and southern growth corridors.

Do I need a licensed installer for a garage door in WA?

There is no garage-door trade licence category in Western Australia, and repairing or replacing a door on an existing garage does not reach the value threshold at which builder registration under Building and Energy applies. The one real exception is electrical: adding a power point in the garage or hard-wiring a motor is electrical installation work that must be done by a licensed electrical contractor. Plugging a modern motor into an existing power point is not. We tell you which one your job needs rather than charging you for the wrong one.
